October 2009

Well Autumn is finally here, as quick as the temperatures and leaves dropped, the wind and rain have set in.

With the competing season now over till next year, we have been training lots. Thank you to Mark and Helen for letting me use your paddock. so here is a little update.

Snoop as always is a snoopastar, at club he is training with the grade 6&7 dogs and loving the complex courses. He is even getting round them clear even if they seem totally impossible. He has a little rest earlier this month but then came back with so much excitement, it was so nice to see he really loves doing agility. Snoop and I really work well as a team.

Dre is well still a pocket rocket trying to cut every corner he can usually catching the wings, but he is starting to calm down a bit now and thinking about what he is doing. He is so fit at the moment which is a good thing thinking back to this time last year when he first got ill (I must add he still has no symptoms of that illness). He has really improved over the season pulling off some really complex moves, surprising us all. He likes courses that are more challenging, though sometimes we still have to remember he is a baby.

Holly has been with us since late March. Her obedience is great, even if she gets distracted she still comes back. I have been doing a lot of one to one sessions with her and beginning of October went into a group environment. She does lack confidence sometimes but then makes up in her ability to learn. She has master every piece of equipment:-
jumps at club are medium but at home are large
tyre is always large
contacts are really good with a nice target at the end (I think her favorite equipment at the moment),
weaves are upright and have only the guides on the start and finish and finding the entrance at a running paces and angled with me about 2-3 feet away
Verbal commands are coming along nicely, Holly knows left, right, in and out.
Holly does lack the confidence to go on but then I just have to run faster for her. She is very good at me doing front crosses but need work with our rear crosses
All the equipment is now being completed in sequences, not bad for only really learning it about 4 months ago, lets hope Holly keeps it up, she will be competing in April at this rate.

As promised last month, here are the second lot of photos from Cornwall - hope they make you feel warm
