April 2009

This month saw the start of the agility season, and of course the first time we started using our new caravan. We had glorious weather at Spring at Shuttleworth, not so good weather at Dog Vegas but still had a great time. I can't believe how much bigger the caravan and awning is compared to our last one, and of course how much warmer it is. Also we have been busy training in between the shows.

One of the week ends we also took a trip to the river. My mum and one of her dogs Sheeba also joined us. All had great fun as you can see from some pictures below and in this post. I also managed to video them playing in the water and also of Snoop rolling afterwards, Snoop always does this when ever he goes in water, though Dre, Holly and Sheeba thought it was a bit silly. The clarity isn't the best as I used my mobile but I think they have still come out quite well.

Snoop achieved a 1st, 3rd, 9th and twelve clear rounds at Spring at Shuttleworth and Dog Vegas Agility shows. A great start to the season. Snoop's 1st place was in a jumping round, he was amazingly fast and did very well to stay 1st from the beginning of the class.

Snoop was also 6 this month, I can't believe how quick the time a flown by and all that he has achieved in that time

Dre achieved a 19th and two clear rounds at Spring at Shuttleworth and Dog Vegas agility shows. Dre still runs at a 100mph but loves every minute of it. He even ran a couple of rounds for one of my trainers Steve which was nice to watch. We still need to work on the control and of course distant contacts as one course was so far spread out I handled all of it from the centre of the course around the A frame, it did look amazing and Dre did the course in 28 seconds, the next fastest time with and without faults was 33 seconds, but Dre fly off the dog walk, but how amazing he was being handled so far away, though not with the control I had hoped for. Dre's 19th place was in a class I had lots of control and held him ages on the contacts and he still managed to get a place

Dre's health is still improving, I think he has finally finished his moult, and his skin is hardly flaky so hopefully fingers and paws crossed he is staying that way.

Holly has been busy with her obedience training, she still gets very excited when other dogs are running around but there is a lot more control with her now (when she listens). She is also doing bits of agility training, jumping is not a problem, she has proved she can do the full height easily, the contacts are coming along nicely, the weaves we are working on slowly. Holly is showing so much talent in agility and I think she will be a nice steady dog like Snoop, though I think she has a lot of speed in her so could be another Dre, only time will tell. Holly liked camping though she did escape out of the netting a couple of times to get to me, proving the bond is good between us.
