February 2006

This was to be our second BFA competition but this time it was a Newark, on the team were two new dogs who had never competed before and had only just recently learnt the sport, in training they had been excellent but when it came to the warm up before our first race, the excitement of the day caused the new dogs to run out and down along the jumps instead of over them. Our first race was to start, what a change the new dogs made, both of them did the jumps there and back on every run, I think they were teasing me on the warm up. we won quite a few races that day due to one of our new dogs causing a distraction. Ronny was a BSD who most dogs on the flyball circuit had never seen before, so whilst Ronny was trying to run, the other team dogs would come over to investigate him seeing what he was, well because of this we won the race due to interference from the other team, but poor Ronny was then sent down the run again to make sure he wasn't affected by it, making him run twice as much as our other team dogs. The day finished with Leamington Royals being placed 4th with a fastest time of the day of 23.49 seconds
